Punjab’s air quality shows no sign of improvement as Lahore ranks among the world’s most polluted cities yet again, recording an AQI of 368. Karachi stands at sixth place globally with 209 particulate meters. According to the Punjab Environment Department, Kasur has emerged as the most polluted city in the province with an alarming 500 particulate meters. Meanwhile, Khanewal recorded an AQI of 365 and Lahore 353 in the latest readings. Dense fog has also led to the closure of Motorway M1 from Peshawar to Rashakai.
